Tesco #BagsofHelp initiative July - August 2017.

Tesco teamed up with Groundwork to launch its community funding scheme, which sees grants of £4,000, £2,000 and £1,000 – all raised from the 5p bag levy – being awarded to local community projects. greenspace scotland is working with Groundwork to support Scottish communities.
Bags of Help offers community groups and projects across the UK a share of revenue generated from the 5p charge levied on single-use carrier bags. The public will now vote in store during July and August on who should receive the £4,000, £2,000 and £1,000
awards. Annan Harbour Action Group have been selected to take part in the public vote to raise funds for the community build of a "Tammie Norrie" traditional wooden boat. Following the successful build of our second St. Ayles rowing skiff, working in partnership with Annan Academy and Step Together, Dumfries, the group has decided to try a different challenge and learn new skills building a different type of boat. A Tammie Norrie can be sailed, rowed or powered by an outboard engine and offers members of the community the chance to come along and learn new skills, from the very start of the boat building to sailing it on the Solway Firth when finished.

Voting takes place in the Tesco, Annan store and runs from the 1st July to the 31st of August so please remember to vote with your blue token every time you shop.
